The August 31st race: The track was well groomed (overheard conversations) and well watered (thanks to Ralph, Joey Suges and Mike Strunk for putting in long hours into the early morning Sunday). Unfortunately
LTGP did not get the rider turn-out that was hoped. But special thanks goes to the Max Pitts people who showed up with a lot of riders.
Thanks to Rose who spent the day taking pics which you can see by clicking on the Aug. 31 MX.
Being a sand track, I was amazed at the lap times. the top riders in the 125cc class were turning the same as the Open class (1:55). The 65cc class had the roughest challenge as witnessed with the stopwatch of
3:11 laps. In the second moto Jim Royko and his hybrid Kawi 3-stroke 500cc mated to a KX450 frame put on a good race with Nick Kersey’s Yamaha 450 until Jim overshot a right hand turn allowing Nick to get the
edge and bragging rights. Later in the 14-24 age class, Nick cranked a 1:52 lap which was the fastest of the day. Speaking about fast laps, LTGP will be running open riding with a twist.
Riders will be timed and the fastest rider of the day could earn $$. More info after the State race.
Now LTGP has to take what we learned at the Aug. 31st race and improve some track sections and administrative functions to be totally prepared for THE race. Track work will start Saturday 9/13 and continue
until Saturday 9/20. During this time the track will be closed for ALL riding. We need ALL members to pitch in by getting the track and grounds ready.
