Requirements for Riders Under 18 years of age!
Our insurance company and the American Motorcyclist Association requires a parent or legal guardian to sign up a MINOR rider.
From a legal standpoint, a liability minor release form must be filled out by a parent. A minor if not accompanied by his/her parents must also provide two notarized permission statements from your parent. This assigns temporary guardianship and is needed in case of an emergency. Below is an example of what the permission statement should say:
“My son/daughter, ____First& Last Name____________has my permission to ride motocross at Leisure Time on____Date___. In addition, I authorize _____Temporary Guardian___to be my
son/daughter’s guardian on ____Date___,to sign all liability, release and registration forms at the track and give consent for medical treatment if needed.”
_______(Parent or Legal Guardian Signature)
(Printed name of Parent or Legal Guardian
Date and Notary Public Signature and Seal
In the above example, the temporary guardian is someone over 18 years or older and will be the track with your son/daughterall day. Leisure Time needs an original copy of a notarized permission
statement for each event. The second copy should be retained by the “Temporary Guardian” in the event the rider requires medical attention.
At several tracks, it never fails that a young rider will show up without a parent and no Temporary Guardianship assigned. When this happens, the track has no recourse but to
turn the rider away.
When signingup a “MINOR” make sure you complete both sides of the AMA ”MinorRelease Form”. This will keep delays to a minimum. For a copy of the AMA MINOR RELEASE AND WAIVER click here.
THANK YOU.
